The Soil Frontier is a 3D-based educational game with Augmented Reality that teaches the basic concept of Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD). The player plays as Joshua, the intern whose task is to defeat The Soft Soil Monster that has destroyed his town.
Team Momentum creates this game in collaboration with Geo Edu in 2022.
As a visual designer and animator in this Capstone project, my role is to create game assets and animation with various software. I also helped with designing and creating the game website.

Before the game starts, there is an opening scene that roughly introduce the story plot of the game.
This short opening scene is achieved by modelling and animating the necessary scene assets in Maya and later brought into After Effect for compositing.

Players can view Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) in Augmented Reality to learn more about it before the game first starts.
My job is to model and texture the excavator rigged with a PVD drain and then animate the up and down movement of the mandrel.

Normal Mapping is used for faking the lighting of bumps and dents in order to add details without using more polygons.
